FAQ's

When is Children’s Camp 2010?
Children’s Camp 2009 will be from Monday, July 12, 2010 at 2:00 PM through Friday July 16, 2010 at 12:00 PM.

Where will camp be?
Children’s Camp will be at Wesley Woods Camp and Retreat Center in Indianola, IA. Wesley Wood's Website

Who can attend Children’s Camp 2010?
Children who have completed Second through Fifth Grade by July 2010 can attend children’s camp. This does NOT INCLUDE children who have skipped grades. The horse facility requires that the children have actually finished Second Grade at the usual age for 2nd grade children.

What can I expect at Children’s Camp 2010?
Children will be living in cabins for up to 12 children. The ratio of counselors to children will be one counselor for every six children of the same gender. There are well-maintained restroom facilities as well as showers. Children will have opportunities to swim, ride canoes, ride horses, play in the creek, hike, go on a wagon ride to a small animal petting area, and participate in the low ropes activities course.

Who will be the camp speaker in 2010?
To be determined...

How much does it cost to go to camp?
The cost of Children’s Camp 2010 is $130.00.

Why is it so expensive?
Let me begin by saying that this is an EXTREMELY REDUCED RATE, and that without the financial support of The District, we would not even be able to offer camp at this price. I know that many families are spending much more than this on horse camps, scout camps, and sports camps. Prices have just gone up in every area of life, and this has translated into church camp as well. The prices cover all lodging fees, campground fees, background checks for volunteers, food, staff expenses, and all activities during the week. It is money WELL SPENT.

I would like to volunteer at Children’s Camp. What should I do?
Fill out a Counselor Registration form and send it to Jeana Mowery by June 1, 2010.

I would like to serve as camp staff. Can my child attend camp for a reduced rate?
Unfortunately not. We have done this in the past, but unfortunately with the changes in campground, we will be unable to afford the costs of reduced rates for children of staff.

What security measures have been put into place to secure the safety of children and staff?
All children must send a picture with their pre-registration. In case of an incident, we will have a recent photograph of the child to use in an emergency. (Pictures can be returned to parents when the child is checked-out if requested.) All camp staff must pass a Criminal Background Check and have a signed reference from their pastor. All children will be under the care of camp counselors and camp staff at all times.
